Hello, I am Shannon Ivins I am Florida born and raised. I got my first pig Vinny around 12 years ago. when I got him I knew nothing about pigs. when he got about 1 year old Vinny needed to have his tusk and hooves trimmed. I called around to 30 different vets trying to find a vet that would see him. The last vet I called told me about Lynne Bosimer with Noahs Ark pot bellied pig rescue and gave me her phone number. Lynne came out and trimmed vinny's tusk and hooves it did not take anytime at all. I soon found myself calling her about all my pig questions. I still to this day call her when I need help. I wanted to return the favor so I asked her how I could help. She told me she needed volunteers to help around the rescue and that she was having a fund raiser she needed help with. I helped her run the benefit and got my mom and grandmother to make stuff to give as prizes for raffles and such. I soon found myself making art for sale about to help raise money for www.noahsarkpbprescue.org. I still donate tons of art to them for there annual animal benefit every year. I am self taught and have learned so much about portraits and art in general since then. I now specialize in portraits in many medium oil, watercolor, airbrushing, glass etching, glass paintings and wood burning. I can draw and paint just about anything you can think of animals, people, cars, bikes, landscapes, I make art work to help rescued animals ranging from Pot Bellied Pigs to cat and dogs even chickens. I have 12 pigs 6 dogs all of which are rescues. Some there families no longer wanted a couple where abandon after years of abuse others had no choice but to find a home do to health issues. The money generated from the sales of my items to pay vet bills, shelter and food for animals that have been abused and Rescued. I work in gardening and I use my art to relieve the stresses of everyday life. I donate to multiple charities on my artfire and etsy shops. I wrote a book called "pigatopia" It took me 2 year to write and illustrate. The book is about life on an animal rescue from the animals point of view. Everybody young and old that has seen or read the book loves it. My book has went to 5 or 6 school teachers who read it to there kids. The kids want to hear the book over and over again and parents love that it teaches the kids good life lessons. Kids find it easy to relate to the animals in the book. The characters in the book are real pigs that have been rescued some of them are my kids . I donate $2.00 for every book sold to Noah's ark pot bellied pig rescue. I am a active member in car creative animal relief, handmade4hounds, efa, and petsjubilee links: © 2009 Blockhead Radio
